Nerea García de Albéniz, CREB UPC PhD student, finalist of the SOCIEMAT Awards 2021
The student has been selected for her work on “Laser-assisted surface modification of zirconia-based materials to enhance osteoblast response for dental applications”, the result of her Final Thesis of the Master in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering – AMASE at UPC. The grand final will take place on November 3rd, where the three selected students will present their work, in order to win the Best TFM in Materials Science awarded by SocieMat.
General Director of Knowledge Transfer Xavier Aldeguer visits CREB UPC
Xartec Salut, the largest network of innovation research groups in Catalonia lead by CREB UPC, organized a working session with Xavier Aldeguer, General Director of Knowledge Transfer of the Government of Catalonia, to discuss how to tackle the main challenges of the Catalan Ecosystem. Another interesting journey that allowed to introduce the different programmes of Xartec Salut to the main players and institutions of the industry.
Two projects by BIOART and BIOMEC from CREB UPC and the spin-off ABLE Human Motion have been awarded by the UPC Social Council
The ‘WOMEN-UP’ project by BIOART has been awarded as the Best Patent in the Research Valorisation field. Also, the project “Technology for the improvement of inclusion and quality of life of people with neuromuscular diseases” from the BIOMEC research group has been awarded as best project for Inclusion. Finally, in the category of best company, the spin-off ‘ABLE Human Motion’ has received a special mention. Congratulations to all the colleagues who work so enthusiastically in these teams!
EL CREB UPC participa en el BIOSPAIN 2021 incidiendo en la innovación de los sectores biotecnológicos y las tecnologías de la salud
El CREB UPC ha participado en la décima edición de BioSpain 2021 en el Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra-Baluarte en Pamplona-Iruña. El CREB UPC ha presentado la iniciativa XarTEC SALUT, la red de innovación en tecnologías de la salud que agrupa 47 grupos de investigación de Cataluña, pertenecientes a 17 universidades, hospitales y centros tecnológicos. Esta red se focaliza en la identificación, valoración e impacto social y económico de la investigación realizada por estos grupos, identificando las mejores tecnologías que llegarán al mercado vía la creación de spin-offs y startups.
Three CREB UPC projects receive awards in the 2021 CaixaResearch Validate call
A 3D game-based platform for virtual training in surgical techniques, new software that aids the mechanical ventilation of patients and a certification for artificial intelligence systems in health are the three proposals of the CREB UPC that have been selected in the “la Caixa” Foundation’s 2021 CaixaResearch Validate call. This programme was launced in 2015 in collaboration with Caixa Capital Risc and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health), it will support 17 of the 97 projects presented in the call, aimed at early-stage innovation proposals. Projects will each receive up to 100,000 euros to validate their technologies and design a roadmap for their valorisation process.
