Dimecres 22 de desembre l’equip Arm2U va fer la presentació del primer prototip de la pròtesi de braç Andròmeda, una pròtesi transradial que es controla amb senyal electromiogràfica detectant els senyals musculars de l’usuari. L’equip va explicar l’estructura i dissenys dels diferents subsistemes del braç robòtic i va fer una demostració en directe del prototip. Arm2U participarà amb Andrómeda al CYBATHLON, un campionat únic en què les persones amb discapacitat física competeixen entre elles per dur a terme tasques quotidianes utilitzant sistemes d’assistència tècnica d’última generació.

Xartec Salut, the largest network of innovation research groups in Catalonia led by CREB UPC, has launched its new website and corporate video, highlighting the network’s main objectives: to become a catalyst for R+D+I in the field of HealthTech by fostering the exchange of knowledge between research groups, institutions, hospitals and companies; to promote company creation and new career opportunities and to offer more efficient tools for technology transfer.

Last Wednesday, our first STARTUP AFTER WORK brought together those spin-offs, start-ups and entrepreneurs part of the CREB UPC community. We believe that in this increasingly virtual world, it is important and very valuable to create spaces for sharing projects, ideas and experiences that can be shared between bright minds. And it is the aim of this event that will celebrate new editions next year. Thank you very much for your attendance and we hope to see you again at CREB UPC.

La tasca que el CREB ha portat a terme en els darrers quatre anys en aquest projecte, s’ha centrat en verificar l’efectivitat assolida en un camp quirúrgic sintètic, efectuant una prostatectomia radical. La feina ha comportat modelitzar el procediment, establir les regles d’actuació i efectuar la tasca d’integrar-ho en la plataforma DaVinci Research Kit, una plataforma de robot quirúrgic teleoperat orientat a la recerca en tècniques d’assistència robòtica en cirurgia.

Nerea has been awarded for her work on “Laser-assisted surface modification of zirconia-based materials to enhance osteoblast response for dental applications“, the result of her Final Thesis of the Master in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering – AMASE at UPC, under the direction of Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno (BBT) and Dr. Joan Josep Roa (CIEFMA). As the winner of the grand finale, Nerea will represent the association in the competition European Master Thesis Award, to be held during the JR EUROMAT 2022 (Coimbra, Portugal).
